sprenger-novocontact-pelham-double-jointed-bit
Sprenger NovoContact Pelham Double Jointed Bit

The Sprenger NovoContact Pelham Double Jointed Bit has a double jointed mouthpiece with pelham cheek pieces.

novocontact bits are designed to create a unique oval shape which widens the contact surface on the tongue while the rider keeps a steady contact. Only when the rider gives a reinforced rein aid the mouthpiece turns forward and the contact surface gets narrower, ensuring more precise and effective communication. Thus, novocontact bits improve the interaction between horse and rider for a better contact and acceptance of the bit. Due to the modern novocontact geometry, this double-jointed model is a good choice for horses that occasionally get strong but are too sensitive for more impactful bits. These horses also reacted positively to the bit in the manufacturer's practical tests. It fits ergonomically in the horse's mouth, has a large contact surface on the tongue and thus supports a soft but clear impact. This pelham allows for a precise and effective aid transmission to the whole tongue, poll, and lower jaw. Depending on the fastening the leverage on the poll can be adjusted individually. The pelham is often used with bit converters. If rider and horse are already more highly trained, it is advisable to use two pairs of reins: then the leverage can be applied most sensitively. The bit is used with a curb chain that should allow a 45° angle between shank and mouth in order to limit the pressure on the poll.

The mouthpiece is Sensogan. The rings and cheeks are stainless steel rings / cheeks. Mouthpiece thickness is 16 mm. The cheek design is Pelham. Total cheek length is 10 cm.
