This size chart is a guideline. Measurements are supplied by PS of Sweden.
- ✓ Adjustable noseband with adjustable pressure over the nose to help the horse support the bit
- ✓ Upwardly curved noseband reduces pressure on the airways
- ✓ Air channel headpiece with a stop that keeps the browband from sliding down
- ✓ Cheekpieces adjustable on both ends to allow different sizes of bit rings
- ✓ Selectable Cradles™ detach easily for dressage competitions
The PS of Sweden Nirak™ Bridle has an adjustable noseband that gives adjustable pressure over the nose, which helps the horse to support the bit in a natural way. It suits the young horse who is still in training and the more sensitive horse that releases contact with the bit. The noseband also suits strong or hot horses who lean on, as it helps the rider regulate the horse, and the rider can work together with Nirak™ and a suitable bit more easily.
One side piece connects to the noseband, which creates pressure on the nose with a rein pull, much like a hackamore. The pressure is adjustable: the further down on the nose it sits, the sharper the effect. The noseband is upwardly curved, which reduces pressure on the airways, and it reduces the risk of bit-related injuries inside the mouth because it does not lie directly against the teeth.
The headpiece has an air channel over the highest part of the neck, giving maximum freedom to the sensitive nerve pathways, muscle attachments and ligaments of the neck. The edges are built-up and softly padded, with an anatomical design around the ears, and a round cutout at the top distributes pressure evenly over the headpiece. A stop on the headpiece stops the browband from sliding down.
The side pieces are designed to reduce pressure from the neck through PS of Sweden's elastic Cradles™. A Cradle is an extra elastic band that the bit should rest on, located partly in the side pieces at the bit and on PS of Sweden reins. The idea is that they act elastically and give the horse more comfort by allowing the bit to bounce, which should relieve the teeth and jaws of static pressure. Many believe that horses prefer this type of bridle and that it can be more gentle and horse-friendly than ordinary bridles and reins. The side piece is connected to the noseband and has selectable Cradles, which are easy to detach when entering the dressage arena. The cheekpieces are adjustable on both ends to fit each individual horse and allow different sizes of bit rings.
The browband is U-shaped to counteract pressure on the horse's forehead, with a rubber-coated inside, so-called anti-slip, that is supposed to keep it up. The Click-It™ function makes it easy to remove and replace the browband when needed, even when the horse is wearing the bridle. All keepers have rubber on the inside to keep them in place even under the toughest of challenges.
The bridle is approved for competition in all disciplines in Sweden and within the FEI, for both horses and ponies. For dressage competitions, buy a throatlatch, attach it to the browband and disconnect the Cradles. Recommended for horses that tuck their nose and release their neck, have difficulty relaxing and taking support on the bit, and are strong and forward. Reins are sold separately.
