The PS of Sweden Paladin Bridle has a more classic dressage design and suits a horse where you want more anatomical features than a regular English noseband. The noseband is designed to avoid pressure from the outside on the teeth and sensitive nerves, and its curved design leaves the cheekbones and sensitive nerve endings completely free. The upper strap of the noseband is tightened with a pull-back snap, which keeps the pad underneath centred for optimal pressure distribution.
The area behind the ears is very sensitive, with a lot of nerves and ligaments, so the headpiece is extra wide to ease pressure from the bridle. A cutout at the top evenly distributes the pressure, and the headpiece is cut to provide space for the horse's ears, all for the highest possible comfort.
The cheekpieces are designed to reduce pressure from the neck through PS of Sweden's elastic Cradles™. A Cradle is an extra elastic band on which the bit should rest, located partly in the cheekpieces at the bit and on PS of Sweden reins. The idea is that they act elastically and give the horse more comfort by allowing the bit to bounce, which will relieve the teeth and jaws of static pressure. Many believe that horses prefer this type of bridle and that it can be gentler and more horse-friendly than regular bridles and reins. The seams are rounded and there are optional Cradles with a French hook, which are easy to detach when entering the dressage arena.
The browband is U-shaped to prevent pressure on the horse's forehead and eye socket, with a rubber-coated inside, called anti-slip, that should help it stay up. The Click-It™ function makes it easy to remove and replace the browband as needed, even when the horse is wearing the bridle.
The bridle is approved for competition in all disciplines in Sweden and within the FEI, for both horses and ponies when a throatlatch is added. PS of Sweden recommends checking with your local equestrian authorities for detailed information in your country. For dressage competitions, buy a throatlatch, attach it to the browband and disconnect the Cradles. A compatible throatlatch model is Flat w/ Dark Stitches. Recommended for horses that are very sensitive to pressure, have difficulty relaxing and coming to work, have difficulty taking support on the bit, have previously had bit or tooth-related injuries, and can sometimes become strong. Reins are sold separately.
